Bridges | Old Route 110, Dummer, NH | 2020

Old Route 110 over Upper Ammonoosuc River was a 62-foot span steel beam with cast-in-place concrete deck structure constructed in 1944. The bridge was placed on the New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s (NHDOT) Municipal Redlist for being structurally deficient.

The replacement structure is an 80-foot span steel beam superstructure  founded on cast-in-place concrete footings and abutments. The new bridge width is 24 feet curb to curb with 10-foot travel lanes and 2-foot shoulders. The project required extensive coordination with Saint Lawrence & Atlantic Rail Road (SL&A) throughout the design and construction process due to the location of the west abutment being within the right-of-way of SL&A’s property.

The bridge replacement project was funded by the Town of Dummer and the NHDOT Municipally-Managed Bridge Aid Program and is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2020.
