New Boston Road Pedestrian Bridge, Goffstown, NH | 2016

The New Boston Road Bridge over Bog Brook is a cast-in-place concrete structure constructed in 1933. A severely deteriorated steel girder, metal pan and concrete deck sidewalk structure existed on the upstream side of the bridge and was in need of replacement. QCC designed a pedestrian bridge that consists of a 45-foot long by 6-foot wide precast prestressed concrete deck with precast concrete footings founded on geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) foundations.

This type of construction allowed for the structure to span over the existing wingwalls from top of streambank to top of streambank, thereby allowing construction of the abutments with minimal disturbance of the brook.

The pedestrian bridge replacement project was funded by the Town of Goffstown and was completed by the Town in 2016.
