Quantum Construction Consultants, LLC originally served as the project management team and design engineers for a previous engineering firm for the replacement of the historic wooden bridge of Winthrop Street over the Ipswich River in 1989. At nearly a century old, the existing bridge had succumbed to floods and deterioration Since its replacement, the new bridge has endured numerous high water and flooding events with minimal impacts.
However, the 100 year floods of 2005 and 2006 severely overtopped the bridge causing undermining and scouring of the abutments and pier, damage to the superstructure and washouts of the roadway approaches. QCC was contracted by the Town of Hamilton to undertake repairs funded in part by grants from FEMA.
